Chasing Time

I'm running all day
I'm chasing time
Trying not to lose my mind
Finding out truth
Stepping into the light
Hand on the trigger
Facing my fears
My ravenous soul
Searching for answers
That I may never find
I'm constantly moving
Movement keeps me going
Trying not to think of all the impossibilities
But rather embracing all that I can
Each tick-tock reminds me
The sand in the hour glass is slipping away
Finding out truth
Stepping into the light
My patience inside me is like a burning fire
Slowing down will only make me stagger
I'm chasing time
Finding out truth
Stepping into the light

Life can be

Life can be hard
Especially when you take a stand

Life can be tragic
Loving someone till the end

Life can be dull
If you look at it in black and white
Forgetting all the hues from heaven above

Life can be grand
Taking in moments, breathing in joy, letting go and holding on

Life is a gift, so live in the "present"
Cause' tomorrow may not come
And yesterday is gone, so learn from your mistakes
And remember lessons learned and live for today

Life is a lesson
And it's not the grade you got
But the experiences and the road you traveled on that got you there
The people you loved, the good you did, the laughter you imparted
The love you gave, the forgiveness you showed
The life you lived

Life can be-
Whatever you make of it-

Ticking Clock

My life's one big ticking clock
These words in my head just won't stop
Interruptions, artistic illusions
Cluttering my peaceful mind

Nothings certain
Everything's a question
Although people see
Most walk around half blind

I'm not gonna ask you
So please don't ask me
The answer to the question
of life's uncertainties

I'm trying to be kind

My life's one big ticking clock
These words in my head just won't stop

I run, I pray, I write, I read, I play
Never knowing what cards will get dealt the next day

Interruptions, artistic illusions
Cluttering my peaceful mind

Do you know where this will go?
I don't know the last words I'll say
I only know I'm on my way

My life's one big ticking clock
The words in my head just won't stop

Striving, struggling
Reaching, stretching
Giving, taking
Loving, hurting
No never hating
Believing and writing
Don't we all do this every day?

Interruptions, artistic illusions
Cluttering my peaceful mind

My life's one big ticking clock
These words in my head just won't stop

Inspiration, elevation
It's all part of God's creation

In my mind I hear such words and rhymes
And it comes spilling out of my mouth and ears
Floating, traveling through my veins and finally
to my hand, pen and paper-
Keyboard
Inkblood
It's all so clear

My life's one big ticking clock
And the words in my head just won't stop

Decades

Decades pass by, don't they go by in a blink

My life flashes before me of the years gone by

My troubled youth

The sadness that surrounded me

I didn't know it then, but looking back at it now

I see it clearly, for what it was

Decades pass by don't they go by in a blink

My life was in a state of grey, till I met you

The pendulum swings

The clock ticks

Winters gone and time moves on

I look at my box full of poetry from the years gone by

And I remember my life, it's written there in that grey box

How strange...

I read old poems and I'm numb, remembering times

Days fogged up, my mind won't let me travel to

I'm a kid sitting on the floor scribbling away

Heart break, tears, rage, dark days

Pictures from the bottom of the box of you and I

My life lit up when we first met

Decades pass by, don't they go by in a blink

I look at my children's eyes and smile

Their Decades are different, much brighter

They still struggle in their own ways

Their Decades pass by

I sit back and watch then grow, make decisions

Does she really have to go?

Can I hold her some more?

In my heart she's still 5 years old

Mommy will you do my hair?

Mommy will you play with me?

She's fifteen years old

I know she'll be strong and bold

Take on the world

Just watch her go

Decades pass by, don't they go by in a blink

I'll use them wisely and take time to see clearly

You came along to heal my heart

You gave me a brand new start

Decades...

Little Girl

Little girl-
You're growing up too fast-
Sow down-
Take it easy-

Little girl-
Give me a kiss on my cheek-
I love you so-

Daddy's girl-
You're mine too-

Little girl -
Smile-
Laugh-
Skip all the way-
Throw the ball-
Let's play-
Pretend you're a fairy-
I'll catch you every time-

Little girl-
Time flys by-
And I have to cherish -
Every minute-
Cause your mine-
I'm so lucky to have you-
To know you-

I watch you and all that you are-
Your character-
Your laugh-
Your smile-
Your curiosity-
Precocious beauty-
Your mind takes in the world by the minute-
I'm amazed by you-

Running with innocence-
Turn around and smile-
My heart skips a beat-
As I watch you go -
Backpack in hand-
Standing straight-
Ready to face the day-
Meeting friends -
As you skip away-

Little girl-
I'll remember you-
As you grow and change-
With time you will discover-
All the things you were meant to do-
Paint me a picture-
I'll treasure it so-

Little girl-
Don't grow up so fast-
I just want to hold you-
As you pull away to play-
You turn to me and smile-

I'll love you forever to eternity and more-

Little girl-
Dance-
Sing-
Pretend-
Live with a full  heart-

I'll be here for you -
To love you-
Catch you -
Hold you
Laugh with you-
Play with you-
And take hold of the privilege it is-
To raise you.-
To be part of you-

Little girl-
Words can't describe-
What you mean to me-
You're a shining star-
The reason my heart beats-

Little girl I'll love you for all eternity-

Blood of a Recon

Darkness comes over the desert

The night wind flies over me

And I keep fear underneath my feet

The cold steel from my gun feels like an extended part of me

I try not to think of the worst that could happen

I keep my mind on my mission for my band of brothers;

Will me to do my best

For no superman can see me coming

My feet move fast as Ali

My blows come down on you like thunder

And I am as fast as Mr. Lee

For in me runs the Blood of a Recon Marine

A warrior,l a hero, a leader

I bring peace and I fight evil with my soul, sword and gun

We are sent first into the lions den

And we come out victorious in the end

For no one can match me

I am forever changed

Because in me runs...

The Blood of a Recon Marine

Inkblood-

This poem is from my book Silent and Still it's on my website www.janiepoetry.com

Inkblood-

Poetry runs in my heart

Inkblood runs in my veins

Sometimes it's a burden

Sometimes it's a gift

It's always with me

An extended part of me

I hear a story, or have a bad day

If I feel loved or experience sorrow

Even joyous laughter

I search for pen and paper

It's spilling out of me

Sometimes I am awakened by the poetry in my heart

I write it down

I read it

I breathe it

I am consumed by it

Poetry runs in my heart

Inkblood runs in my veins

My characters are real to me, in my place of imagination

I see them, like a movie in my head

Nothing can stop it

It's forever a part of me

For poetry runs in my heart and

Inkblood runs in my veins

Entering the unknown-

I'm holding on to my dreams-
Moving steadily-
I'm taking on more than I know-
I'm pushing violently-
I'm entering the unknown-
With open eyes, taking steps-
Holding on to faith-
Uncertain of the outcome-

Catching fire-
Throwing stars-
Landing on Mars-
I'm an alien to myself-
All that I know-
All that I see-
Can be gone so quickly-
Old ghosts haunt me-
Inkblood releases me-
Images of you-
And what you did, take hold-
I close my eyes-
I can feel the pain of so long ago-

I'm entering the unknown-
With open eyes, taking steps-
Holding onto faith-
Uncertain of the outcome-

Catching fire-
Throwing stars-
Landing on Mars-

Vampires, werewolves, zombies, demons-
Let go-
I'm alone-
I'm twelve years old-
Nothing's sacred-
Everything's cold-
I'm shivering-
It's about to snow-

I've got fire, glitter, diamonds, a volcano rising-
It's filled with truth and my violent ravenous poetry-
Words, pain, grief, memories buried so deep-

I'm entering the unknown-
With open eyes, taking leaps-
Grasping for faith-
Uncertain of the outcome-

Catching fire-
Throwing stars-
Landing on Mars-

Trying not to lose my way-

Trying not to lose my way-

My story is nothing new-

Tragedy, hypocrisy-

Love, Darkness, Light, Laughter-

Looking forward to another day-

I'm trying not to lose my way-

I'm a ghost walking by-

A distant version of myself-

I'm a story; no it's not new-

I'm bruised, something borrowed-

And something blue-

I'm the word you don't want to say-

The thought lingering in your mind-

Inspirational ideology-

Transformed by a new world and old philosophy-

I'm trying not to lose my way-

I'm a ghost walking by-

Mediocrity turned to brilliant tragedy-

I'm following you-

You're following me-

Click, send, don't press rewind, select, and enter acronyms forward-

Take a stand-

Don't look back-

Looking forward to the next track-

Don't worry, I'm trying not to lose my way-

Picture

Picture
I cleaned the house
I swept the floors
I re-arranged my drawers
I found a black and white picture of us;
From so long ago…
I dusted it off
I straightened it out;
For it had been crumpled by some books
I sat down and stared at it
It brought me to a different time
I put it in a box
Then I went outside
My heart pounded
It un-nerved me for a moment
The air was crisp upon my face
And I knew in fragment of time
I smiled to myself
I set if free
I let it go
I laughed as I taped it to a heart shaped balloon
I waved at it as I saw it fly into the blue sky
I said goodbye
Yet, I know it left a stain upon my heart

New poem from new poem book "Ticking Clock"

When I go
I t all comes down to when I go
I hear my heart beat very slow
Some days I forget and I start to fret
Thinking that you’re coming home
Dinner isn’t done and oh, no my bed isn’t’ made
And then I get a feeling
It isn’t very appealing
My bones start to ache
And I feel my heart break
I’ll tell you something
It’s been a blast
My life went by so fast
Most days I don’t remember
Faces, distant places, memories of long ago
In mostly my dreams I feel young
I’m with you and you’re with me
Our hearts beating wildly
I know even though we’re apart
I can tell you we’re still hand in hand
And heart to heart, loving each other
Almost back to the start
In a glimpse I can see
 The toil and tragedy
The love and pain
Of the life I lived so pleasantly
It was a gift, not a moment wasted
I’m gratefully exhausted
I seek comfort in my bed
The warms sheets around my aching feet
The comforter surrounds me
And I shape the pillow in the form of you
I forget my train of thought
I know I was in love
It seems like a dream
A dream so long ago
I’ll tell you something
It’s been a blast
My life went by so fast
Most days I don’t remember
Faces, distant places memories of long ago

Falling Deeper

Falling Deeper
The wind is blowing
The trees are moving
I feel myself falling, deeper into a deep dark hole
Deeper and deeper I go
Is there any end?
Where does the road stop?
The storm is coming
I feel my soul flying and home is so far away
I feel myself falling deeper into a deep dark hole
Deeper and deeper I go
I hear a voice calling my name
He’s calling to me, but it’s drifted out by everyday life
As the night falls my soul fly’s above and beyond the skies
Deeper and deeper as everything else drift’s into oblivion
Life used to be a high, a roller coaster ride,
An endless journey to a place unknown
But soon the road got cold and the wind blew hard
And It made my heart stone cold
I hear the chimes ringing, the storm is coming
I feel my soul flying
I hear my voice shaking and home is so far away
I feel myself falling deeper into a deep dark hole
Deeper and deeper I go

Chasing Time

I'm running all day
I'm chasing time
Trying not to lose my mind
Finding out truth
Stepping into the light

Hand on the trigger
Facing my fears
My ravenous soul
Searching for answers
That I may never find

I'm constantly moving
Movement keeps me going
Trying not to think of all the impossibilities
Rather embracing all that I can
Each tick-tock remings me
The sand in the hour glass is slipping away

Finding out truth
Stepping into the light
My paitence inside me
Is like a burning fire
Slowing down will only make me stagger
I'm chasing time
Finding out truth
Stepping into the light

Love and Light

Love and Light be there for you-

I wish love to surround you-

When you feel sorrow on your doorstep-

Light to guide you-

When you can't find your way home-

May you have the strength of Achilles-

When getting up for one last round,

Seems like an impossibility-

Follow your heart and don't be afraid-

Even when it seems the road your on is going to give way-

Find the strength to power through-

Cause in the end only you know what's true-

Love and Light be there for you-

May angels guide you-

My love for you is endless and forever-

I pray that you may find positive energy-

In the midst of darkness-

May Love and Light be there for you-

Always
